Karen Torres has been part of board for all four years of college. She even attended the conference her sophomore, junior, and senior year of high school! She was born and raised in Boston, MA and is the oldest daughter of two Nicaraguan immigrants. She is passionate about immigration, education, and the Latinx vote. She concentrates in Government with a secondary in Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights. Karen has worked and volunteered with various non-profits such as Agencia ALPHA and Sociedad Latina. At Harvard, she is part of the Institute of Politics and the Harvard Foundation of Intercultural and Race Relations.

Nadia (she/her) is a senior in Pforzheimer House studying Government on the data science track with a secondary in Sociology. She is Black and Mexican and born and raised in Texas. She joined LEAD because she wanted to help bring LEAD back in person this year and is passionate about increasing representation of latina/es in all fields and industries. At Harvard, she has been apart of the IOP, the Cheerleading Team, Latinas Unidas, the Women’s Center, Harvard Dems, HUFPI, the Radcliffe Research Institute and worked at the Career Services Office!

Aracely is a Junior in Quincy House studying Neuroscience with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policies. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her family is from Mexico which makes her a proud Chicana. She joined LEAD because she wants to empower the Latinas at Harvard and create safe spaces where they can connect, collaborate, and learn from one another. In addition to being the Deputy Director of LEAD she is also the Co-President of Harvard Candela, Civic Engagement Chair for RAZA, and the SLT Chair for MEDLife.

Angelina is a junior in Winthrop studying Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology with a secondary in Latinx Studies. She is Peruvian and Cuban and born and raised in NYC! She joined LEAD board because she wants to be able to provide other Latinas with the resources, mentorship, and connections that she would have loved when she was younger. She wants to provide young Latinas with role models by allowing them to interact with others in fields where Latinas have paved a way for future generations of leaders and inspire change! Aside from LEAD, she is also Co-President of WISHR, Director of Outreach in HUPS, and Director of Academics for WiM.

Brianna is a Sophomore in Kirkland studying Human Developmental & Regenerative Biology with a secondary in Global Health & Health Policy. She is the oldest daughter of two Mexican immigrants and was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She joined LEAD to make a difference for Latin@s at Harvard and around the nation through a pre-professional, empowering place. At Harvard, she is involved with Wellness Educators, the Institute of Politics, and Harvard Biotech Club in addition to her public service projects back home.

Melanie is a first-year in Wigglesworth concentrating in Government with a secondary in Ethnicity, Migration, Rights. Her parents immigrated from Mexico and she was born and raised in Chicago. She joined LEAD because she’s excited to be a part of the Latina community at Harvard and help empower other young Latinas.

Nicole is a first year in Hollis. She is planning on concentrating in Government. Her family comes from Colombia, and she joined LEAD because she believes strongly in what this organization stands for and wants to be part of a community filled with strong Latina women. She also believes that she can learn from each and every one of these incredible women who make this conference possible.

Eduarda is a sophomore living in Adams House concentrating in Economics and Government. She was born and raised in Lowell, MA by her Brazilian parents. Outside of LEAD, Eduarda is also involved in Women in Business and Harvard Model Congress. In her free time, she enjoys trying new coffee orders and discovering new music artists.

Nadia is a first-year interested in Social Studies and Art, Film, and Visual Studies. Nadia was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. Her family is from Mexico, and she could not be prouder of her Latina identity. As such, she can’t wait to join LEAD’s efforts to empower Latinas in and beyond the Harvard community. In addition to her commitment to LEAD, Nadia is involved in Partners in Health Engage, CityStep, and various PBHA programs.

Roxanna is a senior in Eliot House studying Economics with a secondary in Environmental Science and Public Policy. She is from Southeast Los Angeles and her parents are from Mexico. Roxanna joined LEAD because she wanted to get to know other Latinas at Harvard all while planning a conference that could empower Latinas from all over the country.

Kathrin is a junior living in Kirkland and concentrating in Economics.

Yedith is concentrating in Applied Math with a focus in Statistics and a secondary in Global Health & Health Policy. She serves as a peer tutor in Math courses and is involved in mental health research.

Yasmin is a first-year in Thayer Hall interested in concentrating in Government with a secondary in Ethnicity, Migration, Rights. She is the daughter of two Brazilian immigrants and a proud first-generation American. Yasmin joined LEAD because she wanted to help close the achievement gap and introduce young Latinas in her community to valuable resources and networks. Outside of LEAD she is a junior staffer for Harvard Model Congress, a course assistant for STAT 100, and works at the Tozzer Library.

Emerson is a freshman in Canaday planning to double concentrate in Bioengineering and Romance Languages & Lit on the premed track. She is a proud Mexican American born and raised in San Diego. As the granddaughter of immigrants, the daughter of a first-generation college student, and a first-generation doctor in her own right, Emerson is passionate about healthcare equity and Latinx representation in STEM. She joined LEAD because she wants to be part of a community of Latinas who support, uplift, and empower one another to be our best selves and change the world—a community that LEADS!

Sarita is a first-year student in Stoughton Hall planning on studying Government or Environmental Science & Public Policy with a secondary in Ethnicity, Migration Rights. She was born and raised in Southern California. She is Salvadoran and Mexican. Sarita eagerly joined LEAD to help spread awareness and resources for Latinas, who are traditionally unrepresented. Throughout college, she hopes to represent and advocate alongside the Latinx community to have a greater voice in public policies. Sarita is also a part of Harvard Model Congress and Harvard Undergraduate Law Committee.

Dalila is a junior in Pforzheimer House concentrating in Computer Science with a secondary in Astrophysics. She is Cuban but migrated to the US when she was 13, living most of her time in Miami. She likes to bake, watch shows/movies, and hike. She looks forward to the conference and meeting/working with everyone.

Aytana is a sophomore in Cabot House concentrating in Biomedical Engineering. At school she is also involved with the Pre-Medical Society, the Harvard Biotech Club (HBC), and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). She looks forward to helping empower other latinas!

Abbeny is a junior studying History & Literature and Sociology with a citation in Spanish. Originally she is from the Rio Grande Valley, a border community in South Texas. This is her second year being involved in LEAD! She is passionate about empowering communities, human rights, and education. On campus, she is President of Latinas Unidas de Harvard College and Community Organizing Chair at the Phillips Brooks House Association. She is also involved in human rights advocacy and the Harvard Organization for Prison Education and Advocacy (HOPE).

Lia is in the Harvard Class of 2027 and is planning to concentrate in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a secondary in English! She uses She/Her pronouns and comes from the suburbs of Illinois, relatively close to the Windy City. She is super excited to be involved in the LEAD 2024 Conference; she joined LEAD to remain connected to her Latina community as she leaves home, and specifically chose the Outreach team in hopes of spreading the word about the conference-- every Latina deserves to dream and have her voice be heard. It is through this conference that she hopes to do her part in empowering the Latin community in both the professional and social world!

Angie is a sophomore in Quincy House studying Neuroscience with a Secondary in Ethnicity, Migration and Rights. She is from Salt Lake City, Utah and her family is from Peru! She loves to go on hikes, walk her dogs, and listen to movie soundtracks. She is super excited to be Associate Director of Outreach this year and is honored to be able to be on such an inspiring team.

Soleei (she/her) is a current first year at Harvard College living in Canaday studying Government with a secondary in Educational Studies. She is from Fall River, Massachusetts and is very excited at the opportunity to engage in latina empowerment!

Dana Garibaldi is a freshman at Harvard University. She is a proud Latina immigrant and stays close to her Mexican roots. She is passionate about educational equity for minority populations, especially in the STEM field. After organizing the international She Can STEM Virtual Event, which featured diverse scientific speakers of color, she is now excited to devote her time to the LEAD conference. When she's not studying for her Biology classes, you can find her watching movies or exploring local restaurants!

Gissell is a current sophomore living in Quincy House concentrating in Human Development and Regenerative Biology with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, going on hikes, visiting amusement parks, and anything that involves adventure.
